Tânsi Talk Series - Speculative Fiction, Horror, and Indigenous Storytelling

A discussion of Speculative Fiction, Horror and related sub-genres, and Indigenous approaches to storytelling, some of the components of traditional storytelling methods, and some of the concerns, preoccupations, and approaches to storytelling in these genres.

Nathan Adler is the author of Wrist, and Ghost Lake (Kegedonce Press), and co-editor of Bawaajigan ~ Stories of Power (Exile Editions), he has an MFA in Creative Writing from UBC, is a recipient of an Indigenous Voices Award for Published English Prose, and a Hnatyshyn Reveal award for literature. He is Jewish and Ojibwe, and a member of Lac des Mille Lacs First Nation.

Tonia Laird is a Métis author from Treaty 6 territory. Tonia works for Thought Pennies Entertainment as a Writer/Worldbuilder and her writing credits include the AAA video games Dragon Age 2 and Dragon Age: Inquisition, lead writer on the mobile romance game, Everlove: Rose, and creator of the interactive novel, Poster Girl. She has short stories and comics published in literary magazines and an anthology. She is represented by Amanda Orozco and Marilyn Biderman.
