Book Bytes - Children's Literature

Book Bytes is a lunchtime, online summer reading series celebrating the work of Saskatchewan writers of diverse genres, identities, and experience levels. Events run every Wednesday lunch hour from 12 pm - 1 pm (Saskatchewan time) beginning on July 7, 2021, via Zoom.

 

This year we themed our readings which are as follows: Children’s Literature (July 7), Nonfiction (July 14), Poetry (July 21), Fiction (July 28), Playwriting/Screenwriting (Aug 4), and Young Adult + Children’s Literature (Aug 14).

 

Please be mindful of your time zone as all events are in Saskatchewan time.

Host: Colli Christante

 


 

Born and raised under prairie skies, Helen Chang is an Assistant Professor of Family Medicine with the College of Medicine, University of Saskatchewan. She hosts the Chinese Connection, a spoken word program on community radio, teaches Kung Fu, and plays in a bluegrass/folk band. She recently had a poem published in spring. One of her favourite parts of being a mom is reading with her kids.

 

Kathie Cram is excited to release, Let’s Fly: A Dragon’s Quest in Saskatoon, made possible through a Creative Saskatchewan grant. The illustrations were done by her daughter, Kas Rea, a Saskatchewan artist. Kathie is working on a novel entitled, Shedding Skin. She is grateful for the supports from the Saskatchewan Writers’ Guild mentorship program and Sage Hill writers’ retreats. She has a Master of Arts and worked as a community developer in Bolivia, Canadian not-for-profits and public health.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Jessica Williams is the author of seven children’s picture books, three of which she also illustrated. She writes and draws from her very messy office in Swift Current where she welcomes all bugs, creatures and magical beings to help her with her stories. Colli is an Internationally recognized Mastering Performance Advisor, Freedom From Self Sabotage Coach, Systemic & Family Constellation Facilitator, Communication Facilitator, Catalyst, Practitioner ECL foundation, Kinesiologist, 500 RYT Yoga, Published Author, and Inspiring Story Teller. Colli supports another person by providing contexts and experiences which bring out the best of that person’s understanding of love, self, and spirit.
