Scholarships & Bursaries

The SWG is pleased to offer the following scholarships and bursaries to retreatants at the Writers Retreats (February and July) and the Fall Facilitated Retreat. Your scholarship or bursary application must be received at the same time as your application to attend the retreat.
 

The Anne Campbell Memorial Scholarship

The Anne Campbell Memorial Scholarship provides one recipient with $500 for the Saskatchewan Writers' Guild Summer Retreat. The scholarship is intended for an emerging Saskatchewan writer working on poetry or short stories. 

The scholarship is funded through a generous donation by the estate and family of Anne Campbell.

 

John V. Hicks Scholarship

The John V. Hicks Scholarship provides one recipient with $300 for the Saskatchewan Writers’ Guild’s Winter Writers/Artists Retreat. The scholarship is intended for a mid-career writer working on poetry for a minimum two-week stay at the Winter Retreat. For the purpose of this scholarship, a mid-career writer will be considered as a practicing writer who is in the middle stage of their career and has published one or more books or the equivalent.  Recipients must be working on a poetry project at the Winter Retreat, and have been accepted for a minimum of a two-week stay.

The scholarship is funded through a generous donation by John V. Hicks.

 

Doris Hillis Scholarship

The Doris Hillis Scholarship provides one recipient with registration fees for the Saskatchewan Writers’ Guild’s Facilitated Retreat. The scholarship is intended for a developing BIPOC Saskatchewan writer working on creating poetry or drama. For the purpose of this scholarship, a developing BIPOC writer will be considered as a practicing writer, who is Black, Indigenous or a Person of Colour, in the early stages of their writing and has not yet published a book or equivalent.

Judy McCrosky Bursary

The Judy McCrosky Bursary pays the registration fee for one week of the Writers/Artists Retreat in both Winter and Summer for an emerging Saskatchewan writer. An emerging writer is considered to be a practicing writer in the early stages of their career and has not yet published a book or equivalent. Recipients must have resided in Saskatchewan for one year prior to the beginning of the retreat.
