The Andrew Suknaski Writers' Assistance Fund provides one-time, short-term relief funds to struggling writers (ie: bill payments, living expenses,...) up to a maximum of $1000 every five years.
The SWG Writers' Fund, was renamed to The Andrew Suknaski Writers' Assistance Fund in 2012 after the passing of Suknaski - a Canadian poet from the Prairies. Friends of Andrew, including Glen Sorestad, Anne Szumigalski, Pat Lane and Elizabeth Brewster, started this fund as a way to cover the expenses of a Memorial Celebration for Suknaski. The remaining funds continue to grow and honour Andrew Suknaski today.
