Kiskowehikew: conversations about spirit, star relations, dreams, sasq’ets (wild man)

Okiskowehikew-Seer, Medium/Clairvoyant Julianna McLean from James Smith Cree Nation will share her experience as okiskowehikew-Seer and share supernatural stories from varying sources, including her own. There will be an opportunity for attendees to share their supernatural stories or ask Julianna for Clairvoyant guidance in the group chat.

Presenter: Julianna McLean

Julianna McLean is a nehiyaw Hungarian writer from James Smith Cree Nation. With the support of the Arts and Science Indigenous Masters Students Scholarship, Julianna obtained her MFA in Writing from the University of Saskatchewan; she also has a background in Indigenous Education and Kinesiology. Julianna's MFA thesis is a compilation of short stories and poetry that focus on her grandparents' and mother's residential/day school experiences, and Julianna's intergenerational survivor story. Julianna has poetry published in the anthology Where I'm From (2014). Julianna obtained her Indigenous yoga teachers certification through the Saskatchewan Indigenous Yoga Association she is also a Jingle Dress dancer.

Elena Bentley (she/her) is a disabled, bi, and Métis/settler poet, editor, book reviewer, and children’s book author (The Pickle in Grandma's Fridge, YNWP, 2022) from Treaty 6 territory. She is a Citizen of Métis Nation-Saskatchewan, and she holds an MA in English from the University of Toronto. Her poetry has been published in various magazines and journals, including Arc Poetry, The Malahat Review, PRISM international, Room, and Grain. Most recently, Elena was a finalist for Vallum Magazine's 2022 Vallum Chapbook Award. She is the poetry editor for untethered magazine.
