Praxis and Practicalities (What Every Writer Needs to Know) - Presenting Yourself on the Page Webinar

Are you stymied by every request for a bio, literary CV or brief description of your work? Does applying for a writing grant feel like swimming across a stormy ocean? Do you agree that writing an entire book is easier than crafting the blurb for its back cover? This workshop will offer approaches and examples to help you position yourself and your writing in effective, authentic ways.

Leslie Vryenhoek is a writer whose fiction, poetry and memoir explore the landscape of intimate relationships, how the uneven hand of fortune shapes lives, and what it means to belong to a place. Her work has garnered critical acclaim and awards. Leslie also works as an editor and mentor to other writers and as a communications professional focused on social and economic justice and the arts. She lives in Saskatoon, where she is working on a novel with support from SK Arts.

Host Kate Finegan (she/her) is a writer and editor living on Treaty 6 Territory in North Battleford, SK. She was the Saskatchewan Writers Guild's inaugural sponsored writer-in-residence at the Wallace Stegner House in March 2022, and her work recently won the Driftwood Press short story contest. She's currently working on a novel that's supported by SK Arts, Canada Council for the Arts, and Access Copyright Foundation. Learn more at katefinegan.ink.
