To Write with Autumn

The SWG, in partnership with the Saskatoon Public Library, will host this Creative Writing workshop with Cooper Skjeie.

In this workshop, Cooper Skjeie will draw upon the imagery, feeling, and metaphor of autumn to inspire poetry from the rawness of human experience. He will answer questions about the creative writing process.

Cooper Skjeie (/shay/) is an educator and poet from Treaty 6 and Métis Territory. A recipient of a 2021 Indigenous Peoples Art and Artists grant, he won first place in the 2020 Saskatoon Indigenous Poets Society Slam Invitational, third prize in the 2020 Short Grain Contest for Poetry, and was shortlisted for the 2020 Pacific Spirit Poetry Prize. His work appears or is forthcoming in Grain Magazine, PRISM international, and Augur Magazine, among others. Of Métis and German-Norwegian ancestry, he lives in Saskatoon.
