Anita Adefuye (ah-day-foo-yay) is a policy practitioner, author, speaker, career coach, and business owner.
She is a dynamic leader passionate about educating and empowering individuals through various avenues.
Anita is the author of Reve-Healed, a powerful memoir detailing her resilient journey of overcoming the impacts of childhood sexual abuse, addiction, suicidal thoughts, and depression. She also executive produced a short film closely related to her story, tagged ‘The Girl Child’ that won nominations in three categories at the Yorkton Film Festival in 2023.
She is also the founder of Advanced and Fulfilled Coaching Company, an organization dedicated to helping immigrant professionals advance their careers, establish their identity, and lead fulfilled lives in Canada.
With over a decade of experience in public policy, administration, strategy development, strategic planning, and project management, Anita has made significant contributions in government roles across two countries. Before immigrating to Canada, she served as a Foreign Service Officer with the Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In Canada, Anita has held various positions within provincial ministries and Crown corporations, including the Ministry of Energy and Resources, Trade and Export Development, Public Service Commission, and Tourism Saskatchewan. Her roles have ranged from Investment Attraction Specialist to Senior Policy Analyst and Senior Consultant on Planning, Policy, and Intergovernmental Affairs. Additionally, she worked with Farm Credit Canada, a federal Crown corporation, as a Portfolio Strategist.
Currently, Anita is pursuing a PhD in Public Policy at the Johnson Shoyama Graduate School of Public Policy (JSGS), University of Saskatchewan. She was engaged in a MITACS-funded research project in collaboration with the City of Saskatoon to dismantle systemic barriers and foster inclusive, representative governance. Her research focuses on exploring labor market outcomes for women of African descent and examining the role of policy in shaping these outcomes.
In 2024, Anita ran as a political candidate for City Councillor in her ward in Regina, Saskatchewan.
Outside of her professional and academic endeavors, Anita dedicates her time to volunteering in her faith-based community, mentoring newcomers, and supporting teenagers. In her leisure time, she enjoys traveling, reading, and spending quality moments with her family.
