Indigenous Storytelling Series - The Use of Music in Storytelling

The SWG, in partnership with Library Services for Saskatchewan Aboriginal Peoples Inc, (LSSAP) request you to join and welcome Dickie Yuzicapi! He will speak on how we can learn to use music in Traditional storytelling. How it compliments and can be used as its own form of storytelling. Hosted by Kaleigh River Aramenko.

Presenter

Dickie Yuzicapi is of Cree, Saulteaux, Métis and Dakota descent.   He was raised traditionally by his great-grandparents, who did not attend the colonial education system.  As a storyteller, he shares his knowledge traditions and songs.  He’s been storytelling for over 40 years. Hosted by Kaleigh River Aramenko

Kaleigh River Aramenko is a proud Cree and Dakota woman from Ile a la Crosse, SK and a member of James Smith Cree Nation, with roots extending across Treaty 6. She is a poet, an upcoming author, mother, and is currently finishing her diploma in Mental Health and Wellness at SIIT. She finished her Bachelor's degree in English at the University of Saskatchewan in 2019. She loves learning about her culture, being on the land, and walking her journey on the red road.
