Have you heard the amazing range of talent in our writing community? Have you been itching for a chance to share your own work with fellow writers? Our Language Links: Virtual Open Mic is a chance for all writers to share new or old, unpublished or published writing virtually via Zoom with other writers across provinces. Writers of all genres and experience levels are invited to perform a 5-minute piece or just listen with your writing community. We encourage attendance at our open mic to hear and connect to the variety of work in our community, and there is no obligation to read. No open mic event will be recorded.

How the event will run:

• Sign-up will be at the event itself. There will only be 12 spots and a waitlist. You have to show up to the event in order to sign up to read. Registration for the event will be via Zoom as per our usual virtual programming.
• Names will be chosen using a wheel of names generator, so readings will not be in order of sign-up. All twelve readers will be drawn at the start, and SWG staff will put the order in the chat.
• Your 5-minute timer starts as soon as you engage the audience (eg. if you have to give context for your piece, that counts toward your 5 minutes)
• If accessible, we ask readers to be camera-on
