Community

Since 1969 the SWG has been the place for writers to come together in Saskatchewan to write and support each other. Best-selling authors, poet laureates, international award winners and writers of all genres are part of the community you will be joining. We strive for diversity and equity in our programs. When you join the SWG you will be welcome and always have a home for your voice.

Craft

Whether you are just starting out or have been writing for years, the SWG has workshops and resources, on the craft and business of writing, to meet your needs. We seek out the best speakers, programs and resources to help you. We often hire our members, providing them with opportunities to advance their career. Everything you need to take your writing to the next level is here.

Celebrate

We love to acknowledge our members. It is a source of pride when one of our members wins an award or publishes their first, or fifty-first book. We source competitions, calls for submissions, prizes and opportunities so that you can focus on writing and submitting. All we ask is that you let us know about your accomplishments so we can brag about you to the rest of our members.

Membership Testimonial

We all need a community, and the SWG is the community for writers in Saskatchewan. Its well-organized presence connects writers with writers and writers with the greater world. I joined the SWG the week I moved here and have been a member since. It's where I belong.

Yann Martel - Author of Life of Pi, a #1 international bestseller and winner of the 2002 Man Booker Award

I had my first success with a short story thanks to an SWG fiction contest. That led me to other SWG programs I didn’t know about, and 35 years of writer friendships.

Dianne Warren - 2010 Governor General's Award Winner for "Cool Water"

The SWG is my community. I volunteer and I am served. I learn from others and I teach. I share my words and I listen. It feels like home.

Danica Lorer - Professional Storyteller, Writer and Photographer
