The Saskatchewan Writers' Guild's announced at the 2026 AGM that the SWG Board of Directors is launching a search for our next Executive Director, as Tracy Hamon prepares to retire in fall 2027. As such, the Hiring Committee invites you to share your perspectives regarding the leadership qualities an ideal candidate may possess.
The Director is a senior leadership role expected to professionally represent the Saskatchewan-based arts non-profit organization to stakeholders and funders. The role is responsible for the general direction, operations, and resource management of the SWG. The Executive Director supports the development of the Saskatchewan Writers' Guild Foundation, supports the SWG's several staff members in a leadership and HR capacity, manages organizational budgeting and finances, and engages with the Board of Directors as the staff's liaison to the board.
Recently, the SWG published its 2026-2029 Strategic Plan, approved by the Board of Directors in September 2026.
With this in mind—and as you think of what the SWG should accomplish in the next 5-10 years—what skills, attributes, and/or competencies should the SWG's next Executive Director have?
All responses will remain confidential.
The Hiring Committee will aggregate the data and weight the responses accordingly. The results will then be shared with the Board of Directors in late 2026. These valued skills will then be used to create a job listing, interview questions, and other essential metrics as the Board of Directors remains committed to a transparent, fair, and robust search.
Responses will be accepted for approximately 2-3 weeks. Please respond by Nov. 23, 2026, by 5 p.m. CST.
Thank you for your time and thoughtful responses!
