Webb, Saskatchewan — Author Tekeyla Friday is a firm believer in literacy skills and giving children entertaining, fun stories that will entice even the most reluctant reader to want to know more. Her new book, “Prince Prickly Spine” (published by Tekeyla (Tequila) Friday Studios Publishing), tells the story of a lazy prince who wants to stay in his room and play with his devices instead of being responsible. His mother, the queen, and his fairy godparent send him on a quest to rescue a princess. This poor prince who is used to skipping his exercises and schooling winds up losing his horse and is accidently turned into a Porcupine.  How can one so small, rescue a princess at all?

Readers will embark on a humous journey of conundrums as this hapless prince manages to complete his quest to earn back his devices. Children ages 6 to 9 will easily relate to the main character and find themselves cheering for the hero.  James Warwood’s illustrations bring the characters and the quest alive with a whimsical black and white flare.
