Submissions to Blood Tree Literature Issue 16 are now open!

This unthemed issue seeks hybrid writing, poetry, short fiction, and short creative nonfiction. We've also launched a submission form for Contributor Book Reviews.

We favor lyrical pieces that do not withhold depth or resonance. With that in mind, submit to us your best, the box under your bed marked UNSHARABLE, the orphan poem or black sheep fiction. Send us your experimentals; be vulnerable, be calculated.

For all our submission guidelines, please visit our website. We include information on honorariums (we're a paying publication!), fees, rights, types of work we do & don't consider at this time, and more. Please note that abusive or derogatory submissions are not allowed — not now, not ever. BTL is a pro-choice, trans-inclusive, anti-racist publication. AI-generated works are strictly prohibited.

Submission fee: $3 USD (or $15 USD for feedback). Submission fees allow us to maintain our Submittable and website/domain, as well as be able to pay contributors. If our fee is a barrier to submitting to BTL, we now offer a fee-waived week at the beginning of of our sub call with a cap of 20 hybrid subs and 30 collective poetry and prose submissions, as well as a no-questions-asked fee-waived sub link upon request past the free period.

We look forward to reading your work!
