About the Glengarry Book Award

Launched by SFFA in 2021, the Glengarry Book Award supports Saskatchewan’s literary culture. The annual $20,000 (CAD) prize recognizes authors with Saskatchewan roots and is Saskatchewan’s largest literary award.

Krause’s novel has received national recognition and multiple major literary awards and has been optioned for the screen.

Recipients are selected by an independent jury in accordance with the donor’s direction.

The jury described Krause’s novel as “wonderfully imaginative, deeply moving and thought-provoking,” calling it “a real literary accomplishment.”

Dedication

The 2025 Glengarry Book Award is dedicated to the memory of Claire Kramer, founding trustee and donor of the prize, who passed away earlier this year.

Author’s Statement

“I’m so incredibly thankful to Claire Kramer for establishing this award and for showing her belief in Saskatchewan literature in such a generous and tangible way. The Glengarry is a beautiful gift to this province — not just of financial support, but of validation and encouragement. Priceless, vital things.” Suzy Krause

Book Synopsis

I Think We’ve Been Here Before

In October, the Jorgensen family receives two devastating pieces of news: Marlen, a father and husband, has a terminal illness, and a cosmic blast threatens humanity. As the family navigates their final months together, each member channels their energy into prophetic art, family connection and personal reckoning, grappling with the unsettling sense that this unprecedented reality feels strangely familiar.
