The Saskatchewan Writers’ Guild is pleased to welcome Brandon Fick and Kelby Cottenie as our editing team for Windscript Volume 41, the SWG magazine for high-school writing. Brandon will work in the Managing + Poetry editor role and Kelby will support the magazine as the Associate Prose editor. Both Brandon and Kelby bring enthusiasm, professionalism, and talent as they work to encourage and nurture young writers in Saskatchewan. Youth have until December 11, 2024, to submit their writing for a chance to work with our esteemed editors.

Managing + Poetry Editor

Brandon Fick is a writer and editor from Lanigan, Saskatchewan. He received his MFA in Writing from the University of Saskatchewan in 2022. His fiction and poetry has been published in Polar Expressions, in medias res, and The Society, and he has published reviews in Prairie Fire and Prism International. Previously, Brandon was Fiction Editor for Quagmire and Associate Prose Editor for spring magazine, and he is currently a reviewer for SaskBooks. After a few years of trepidation, Brandon has plunged into writing a long piece of fiction that may become a novel.

Associate Prose Editor

Kelby Cottenie (they/them) is a queer, non-binary freelance editor living and working on Treaty 4 territory. They especially like editing fantasy fiction, memoir, social justice non-fiction, graphic novels, and academic works, but they enjoy the process of helping authors tell their stories in any genre. Kelby is also a published comic artist in zines such as issues #9 and #10 of I Don’t Do Comics, issue #22 of Coffee People, and a forthcoming publication for Planned Parenthood. Outside of work, they love birdwatching and slow mornings reading with their partner and their cat, Grayble.
