The Saskatchewan Writers’ Guild and Willow Country Restaurant and Lounge are pleased to present an in-person event titled ‘Saskatoon’s Reader’s Corner’, an evening to help celebrate by bringing people together, to share their stories, fiction, non-fiction or prose, through readings from their work. We believe these stories bring the smiles, tears, laughter, and the celebration of sharing. Guests include local writers: Anthony Bidulka, Marilyn Frey, Marina Endicott, Curtis Sanderson & Kristy Jackson! Family and Friends are invited to come enjoy this beautiful evening of fun! Food and drinks are available for purchase.

Presenters
Anthony Bidulka is the author of 15 novels. He has developed a body of work that often features his Saskatchewan roots and underrepresented, diverse main characters. He tells serious stories in accessible, entertaining, often humorous ways. Bidulka’s novels have been shortlisted for numerous awards. Going to Beautiful is the 2023 winner of the Crime Writers of Canada Award for Best Crime Novel and also won the Independent Publisher Book Award as the Canada West Best Fiction Gold Medalist. Flight of Aquavit was awarded the Lambda Literary Award for Best Men’s Mystery, making Bidulka the first Canadian to win in that category. The final book in the groundbreaking Merry Bell trilogy, Home Fires Burn, is being released June 2025. In his free time Bidulka loves to travel the world, collect art, walk his dogs, obsess over decorating Christmas trees (it’s a thing) and throw a good party.
Marilyn Frey published her debut novel, Reflections in a Farmhouse Window: A Prairie Memoir, in 2024 after placing first in the 2023 international Micki Findlay 50-Word Memoir Contest. She has short stories published in Chicken Soup for the Soul, Our Canada, Fun on the Farm 3, Folklore, Canadian Stories, and the Saskatchewan History website. Marilyn is a member of the Saskatchewan Writer’s Guild. She and her husband reside in Saskatoon, close to their family.
Marina Endicott’s Saskatoon novel Good to a Fault won the Commonwealth Writers’ Prize and was a finalist for the Giller Prize and CBC Radio’s Canada Reads; The Little Shadows was long-listed for the Giller Prize, and so was Close to Hugh. Her seafaring novel The Difference won the City of Edmonton Prize, and her latest, The Observer, was Saskatchewan Book of the Year in 2023. After many years wandering, she lives in Saskatoon again.
Curt Sanderson is a father of two from the Mistawasis First Nation. When he’s not writing, he works at the Gordon Oakes Red Bear Student Centre, supporting indigenous students.
He is proud to be on his recovery journey. Curt has been clean and sober since September 28, 2020.
Curt is writing a memoir about his life and his struggle with addiction. He applied for the Indigenous Mentorship program to learn new skills that will help him complete his book.
Kristy Jackson is a communications professional by day, writer by night. She loves books of all kinds, and has led a program to help Santa bring books to kids in remote Indigenous communities each Christmas since 2018. She is also a volunteer board member with Foundations, a local non-profit dedicated to improving literacy in Saskatchewan. Kristy is a member of Whitefish Lake First Nation #128 who lives near Saskatoon with her husband and their two sons. Her debut novel, MORTIFIED, is for ages 8-12 and was published by HarperCollins in May 2024. MORTIFIED was chosen as an Indigo Staff Pick of the Month for June 2024.l Book 2 is coming out in 2025.
