Betty McGillivray

Betty McGillivray grew up in Mossbank, SK and currently lives in Estevan SK. She tries to see the humorous side of life and is happy to tell people about her adventures. Her book, Fun Is Where You Make It, is full of these stories. Betty loves to take time to enjoy the marvels of the world like watching geese fly or admiring a sunset. Often pausing to dance and sing, she says that she is forced to grow older but refuses to grow up.

After teaching in the small Saskatchewan towns of Piapot, Golden Prairie, and Bienfait, Betty McGillivray finished her career at Westview School in Estevan. She is currently enjoying retirement by substitute teaching, reading, writing and sharing her stories.

Betty’s husband, Lyle, and her sons, Matthew and Curtis are the joy of her life. Whether they are traveling to photograph wildlife, or relaxing at home, she finds time spend with them is priceless and often humorous.

A member of the Estevan Writer’s Group for many years, Betty has served as the secretary and chairperson among other supportive roles. She is also a member of the Saskatchewan Writers’ Guild.
