Beverley Brenna is the author of over a dozen books for young people including her "Wild Orchid" series that have earned a Printz Honor and a Dolly Gray Award, and were shortlisted for a Governor General's Award as well as listed on CBC's Young Adult Books That Make You Proud To Be Canadian. Her most recent picture book, The Girl with the Cat (illustrated by Brooke Kerrigan) is the winner of a 2022 Saskatchewan Book Award, and her middle-grade novel Sapphire the Great and the Meaning of Life won the 2021 Betty Joan Stuchner Oy Vey! Funniest Book Award. In addition to writing for children, Bev has published poetry and short fiction for adults.
After teaching in elementary classrooms and special education settings, Bev is a Professor Emerita from the University of Saskatchewan where she worked for many years with preservice and inservice teachers. She is currently the Children's Editor for Red Deer Press.
