Brenda L. Butler is a retired library paraprofessional who worked in academic (U of S) and special libraries, and who now writes full-time. She studied creative writing at Athabasca University, completing her B.A. in 2022. In her writing, Brenda draws on family and personal experience to explore issues of mental illness and generational trauma. Her historical fiction novel set in Saskatchewan, Through Winds of Prairie Dust, is forthcoming from Gelassenheit Publications. Excerpts of Through Winds of Prairie Dust have been published in Quagmire Literary Journal and long-listed for the Pulp Literature "First Page Cage Match" 2023. Born and raised in Saskatchewan, Brenda spent thirty years living in the Yukon, followed by ten years in Saskatoon before moving to Ottawa with her husband and their golden retriever. Brenda is a member of Ottawa Independent Writers and SWG.
