Erik Josdal

Erik Josdal is a fourth-year English Honours student at the University of Regina. He has a great passion for queer theory that extends to a lot of the courses he takes at the UofR, also making appearances in his poetry and often at least one paper in any of the courses he takes. His other passion, which is a newer one, is the environmental humanities; Erik has been experimenting with bridging the gap between the natural world and queer forms of desire through the arts, which is something he’d like to explore further in graduate studies. He is a great supporter of the arts as the Marketing Coordinator for the SaskPower Windscape Kite Festival and Long Day’s Night Music Festival in Swift Current, SK.

Currently, Erik is working on his honours thesis, examining the social construction of the religion Earthseed in Octavia Butler’s Parable of the Sower. As for creative projects, he is working on a collection of poetry and creative nonfiction titled Queer (Un)Natural Homes, examining queer relationships with the prairies throughout his life. Erik has published poetry in the English Student Association's [SPACE] Magazine and is presenting a paper at the ESA's Trash Talkin' Pop Culture Conference in March.
