Katherine Lawrence

Katherine Lawrence is an award-winning writer whose work has appeared in literary journals across Canada and the U.K. She has published four books (3 collections of poetry and 1 young adult novel-in-verse). Her current manuscript won the 2018 John V. Hicks Long Manuscript Award. Katherine was the 2018-2019 Writer in Residence at the Saskatoon Public Library. Titles: Stay (Coteau Books, 2017), winner of the Moonbeam Award for Children's Literature; nominated for the Anne Szumigalski Award and the Children's Literature Award, Saskatchewan Book Awards. Never Mind (Turnstone Press,2016) Winner of the 2014 City of Regina Writing Award; winner of the 2015 John V Hicks Long Manuscript Award; nominated for 2016 Book of the Year, and the Anne Szumigalski Award, Saskatchewan Book Awards. Lying to Our Mothers (Coteau Books,2006) nominated for the Anne Szumigalski Award and winner of the Alfred G. Bailey Prize for poetry, Saskatchewan Book Awards. Ring Finger, Left Hand (Coteau Books, 2001)won the Brenda Macdonald Riches Award for best first book with the Saskatchewan Book Awards. Katherine is Chair of the Access Copyright Foundation, and a past-president of the Sage Hill Writing Experience Board of Directors. Originally from Hamilton, Ontario, Katherine has lived in Saskatchewan since 1982. She is a graduate of Carleton University and holds an MFA in Writing from the University of Saskatchewan. www.katherinelawrence.net
