Kelsey Lonie was raised on a cattle ranch in Southern Saskatchewan, a setting that shaped her passion for both history and animals. She grew up cherishing her grandparents’ stories about life during the Second World War and has dedicated her career to making this story accessible, engaging, and relevant. Kelsey holds a BEd and an MA in History from the University of Regina and specializes in the contributions of Western Canadians at home and overseas during the Second World War. After almost a decade as a classroom teacher, Kelsey is now the Executive Director and Chief Historian of RUSI Regina, a military history institute in Saskatchewan. She also sits on the board of directors of the Organization of Military Museums of Canada (OMMC) and acts as editor of its quarterly Bulletin.
Kelsey has authored two books:
"Whitey's Journey: A Four-Legged Soldier in the Second World War" published by HeritageHouse, 2025
"A Vacation for Victory: An Illustrated History of the Women's Land Army in Canada" published by McGill-Queens University Press, 2026
