Kristy loves books of all kinds, and has led a program to help Santa bring books to kids in remote Indigenous communities each Christmas since 2018. She is also a volunteer board member with Foundations, a local non-profit dedicated to improving literacy in her community. A member of Whitefish Lake First Nation #128 (a.k.a. Presentation topics:
My book is targeted for audiences from about grade 3 up. Presentations cover topics such as my writing journey, how to get a book published, advice for writers, the importance of reading, dealing with rejection, story structure, embarrassing moments, the importance of representation in books, how to turn an idea into a book, the editing process. Optional writing exercises can include giving young writers an opportunity to practice writing a "pitch," an editing exercise, brainstorming, or (for older audiences) writing a query letter before you write your book.
