Trevor Martens is a writer, educator, speaker, and creative community-builder based in Manitoba. After 16 years as a high school English teacher, he left the classroom to pursue writing full-time and founded I Help You Write Things, a supportive community helping aspiring authors move from idea to finished draft with confidence and clarity.
Through workshops, writing groups, and mindset-first coaching, Trevor has helped hundreds of writers overcome perfectionism, procrastination, and self-doubt to finally trust their own voice. He teaches in-person and online workshops, and brings over four years of professional editing experience to every story he helps shape.
As a speaker, Trevor blends mindset coaching with creative insight to deliver practical, empowering sessions that leave audiences feeling seen and ready to take action. Whether at a writing workshop, creative retreat, or personal development event, he meets writers exactly where they are and helps them move forward with confidence and heart.
Trevor is currently at work on Northmain (working name), a speculative fiction novel in progress.
When he's not writing, speaking, or leading workshops, he can be found exploring the outdoors, cheering on local live comedy, or spending time with his wife and two kids. He also wins at ping pong with alarming consistency!
