Deana Driver

Deana J. Driver is an author, editor, book publisher, and former journalist in Regina. She is the author of five non-fiction books and the founder of DriverWorks Ink publishing, which specializes in non-fiction stories and helps authors self-publish their work. Since 1983, she has had more than 2,300 articles published by various national periodicals including The Medical Post, United Church Observer, The Bottom Line and Lawyers Weekly. Her first book, Just a Bunch of Farmers: The Story of the Weyburn Inland Terminal, was released in 2001. Never Give Up: Ted Jaleta's Inspiring Story, was released in 2006 and was shortlisted for Reader's Choice and Publishing in Education at the 2007 Saskatchewan Book Awards. It was a national bestseller and received Honourable Mention, Biography, in the 2007 Hollywood Book Festival for books worthy of a film or movie. Deana's third book, From The West To The World: The Story of Underwood McLellan/The UMA Group, is the history of a Canadian engineering firm (published in 2009). Never Leave Your Wingman: Dionne and Graham Warner's Story of Hope was released in 2011 and is the inspiring true story of a seven-time cancer survivor who dances into her chemotherapy treatments in Regina dressed in costume, bringing laughter and hope to everyone. This national bestselling title received an Honorable Mention, Biography, in the 2013 Great Midwest Book Festival. The Sailor and the Christmas Trees (Deana's fifth book, released in 2012) is the Winner in the Children's category of the 2015 Holiday Book Festival. It is the true story of a Manitoba sailor who hid some trees on a frigate and surprised his shipmates and some English children while at sea during the Second World War. Deana (pronounced dee-na) has contributed short stories to several DriverWorks Ink anthologies including Cream Money, Fun On The Farm, Fun On The Farm Too, Dear Me: The Widow Letters, and Flight: Stories of Canadian Aviation, Volume 1. She is passionate about sharing stories of fascinating Prairie people and unsung Canadian heroes. Deana enjoys speaking to audiences of all ages from pre-school children to senior citizens, about reading, writing, and literacy. She also loves gardening, photography, riding her bicycle, coloring, and playing with her grandchildren.
