Deana J. Driver is an author, editor, book publisher, and retired journalist in Regina. She is the author of six non-fiction books and the founder of DriverWorks Ink, which specializes in publishing non-fiction books and helps authors publish their work. Since 1983, she has had more than 2,300 articles published in national periodicals including The Medical Post, United Church Observer, The Bottom Line and Lawyers Weekly. Her first book, Just a Bunch of Farmers: The Story of the Weyburn Inland Terminal, was released in 2001. Never Give Up: Ted Jaleta's Inspiring Story, was released in 2006 and was shortlisted for Reader's Choice and Publishing in Education at the 2007 Saskatchewan Book Awards. It was a national bestseller and received Honourable Mention, Biography, in the 2007 Hollywood Book Festival for books worthy of a film or movie. Deana's third book, From The West To The World: The Story of Underwood McLellan/The UMA Group, is the history of a Canadian engineering firm and was published in 2009. Never Leave Your Wingman: Dionne and Graham Warner's Story of Hope was released in 2011 and is the inspiring true story of a seven-time cancer survivor who danced into her chemotherapy treatments in Regina dressed in costume, bringing laughter and hope to everyone. This national bestselling title received an Honorable Mention, Biography, in the 2013 Great Midwest Book Festival. The Sailor and the Christmas Trees (Deana's fifth book, released in 2012) is the Winner in the Children's category of the 2015 Holiday Book Festival and tells of a gift a Manitoba sailor surprised his crewmates with during the Second World War. Crash Harrison: Tales of a Bomber Pilot Who Defied Death was published in 2023 and received 2 awards in Nonfiction from the Next Generation Indie Book Festival as well as being #3 of the Top 100 Bestsellers of 2023 at McNally Robinson Booksellers Saskatoon. Reg "Crash" Harrison is an inspiring Saskatoon war veteran who grew up in the Dirty Thirties and survived four plane crashes while serving during the Second World War. Deana (pronounced dee-nah) has contributed short stories to numerous DriverWorks Ink anthologies including Cream Money: True Stories of Prairie People, Fun On The Farm volumes 1 to 3, and Flight: Stories of Canadian Aviation, volumes 1 to 3. She is passionate about sharing stories of fascinating Prairie people and unsung Canadian heroes. Deana enjoys speaking to audiences from preschool children to senior citizens about reading, writing, and literacy. She also loves gardening, photography, riding her bicycle, coloring, and playing with her grandchildren.
