Elinor Florence grew up on the family farm outside North Battleford, Saskatchewan and earned her English degree at the University of Saskatchewan. She pursued a career in journalism and worked for newspapers in all four Western provinces, spent eight years writing for Readers Digest Canada, and even published her own award-winning community newspaper. Her first novel, Bird's Eye View, about a Saskatchewan farm girl who joins the air force in the Second World War, was a national bestseller. Her second novel Wildwood was named one of Kobo's 100 Most Popular Canadian Novels of All Time.
Her new novel, Finding Flora, was inspired by her own homesteading and Indigenous ancestors. It will be released by Simon & Schuster in April 2025. For ten years Elinor has written a monthly blog, Letters From Windermere, and you can subscribe on her website. She now makes her home in the mountain resort of Invermere, B.C.
