Maureen was born in Saskatoon, but grew up in Edmonton and Calgary. She returned to Saskatchewan in 1976 to attend university in her birthplace, and has essentially never left! In Lampman,her home since 1980, sports are religion, and Maureen can usually be found worshiping at rinks or ball diamonds throughout the province. Maureen's first novel Power Plays (Coteau Books) won the Independent Publishers' Moonbeam Award and was nominated for three Saskatchewan Book Awards in 2009. It was nominated for the Snow Willow and Stellar (BC Young Readers' Choice) Awards in 2010. Face Off was released in September 2010. It won a silver medal in the Moonbeam Young Adult: Mature Issues category. Breakaway, the third book, was released in August 2012. Wood Dragon Books relaunched the #jessiemachockeyseries in 2020 and published a fourth instalment Shootout in 2021. In 2021, Maureen published a book of poetry called Something's Different: A COVID Journal in Verse through Flatlands Press. Most recently, she has published a YA Fantasy series called the Winds of Change. Gabrielle and the Rebels and Gabrielle Rouge are the first two instalments. The Outlaw Gabrielle will be released in December 2024.
