YA author and playwright Maureen Ulrich can often be found at hockey rinks, football stadiums, or ball diamonds throughout the province. Her first novel Power Plays (Coteau Books) won the Independent Publishers' Moonbeam Award and was nominated for three Saskatchewan Book Awards (2009). Face Off (2010) won a silver medal in the Moonbeam Young Adult: Mature Issues category. Wood Dragon Books relaunched the #jessiemachockeyseries in 2020, adding Shootout in 2021. Since then, Maureen has self-published a collection of poetry, a YA Fantasy series, a Middle Grade novel set in Kenya, and a picture book.
