Ruth Chorney

Ruth Anne Chorney (nee Althouse) is an educator, writer and farmer who lives north of Kelvington. After a 35-year career of teaching and educational administration, she continues working to keep her mind, body and spirit active. Chorney experiments with all sorts of genres. She has a regular column in Gardener magazine and has published five children’s books, four in English, one in French. She has had poetry published in several journals, including the U of S Fieldstone Review. In 2018, she published her first novel, Buried, a murder mystery set in northeast Saskatchewan. Buried was short-listed for a High Plains Book Award in Billings, Montana in 2019. In 2020 she published her second novel, Conspiracy. In 2021 she published The Tree Song and Other Poems for Kids to Love, a brightly illustratied tribute to the many readings she did at Greenwater Lake Provincial Park. The Tree Song is Chorney's fifth children's book, colorfully illustrated by Jillian Sawyshyn.

In 2023 Chorney published a third mystery novel set in Northeastern Sasktchewan: "Haunted".

She enjoys reading, writing, horseback riding, gardening, learning new things, and interacting with people of all ages, especially her grandchildren.
