Bad Characters, Better Stories – Writing Characters You Shouldn’t Love but Do

The Saskatchewan Writers’ Guild, in partnership with the Saskatoon Public Library, welcomes award-winning author Lisa Bird-Wilson. Lisa will talk about the characters we remember: they lie, self-sabotage, avoid, obsess, are a mess, and somehow, we still care about them. In this one-hour hands-on workshop, you’ll create messy, flawed, wildly human characters that actually drive a story through guided exercises and short writing bursts; you’ll explore how bad decisions, hidden motives, and contradictions can make your characters feel real (and a little dangerous) bring your willingness to make your characters worse.

This event is open to the public and free for everyone.

Registration will open next Thursday (Aug 27).  The registration link is below: https://saskatoonlibrary.ca/events-guide/event/21274
