Do you have a story to tell? Do you like to write poetry? This workshop will help you get your story published in English. No prior experience is needed. But if you do have writing experience or publications in your former country, this workshop will help you make the transition to writing in Canada. Join professional author Marie Powell for four Saturdays in November. We will use writing prompts and exercises to write short stories, creative nonfiction, and/or poetry. We will discuss our work together and get one-on-one feedback from Marie. In December, submit the work for editing. Then it will be published in a special chapbook: Opening Doors Through Stories: Community. In May, we will celebrate with participants in a public chapbook launch where you can share your new work with a warm and welcoming audience. This series is a partnership between the Regina Open Door Society and the Saskatchewan Writers’ Guild and is intended for Newcomers to Canada living in Regina.

Adult Permanent Residents with CLB level 5 or higher are encouraged to register.

Please note there is no childcare available for these sessions.

Workshop dates are November 2, 16, 23, and 30, 2024. There is no session on November 9.
