The Saskatchewan Writers’ Guild is excited to announce The Guild Prize: a brand-new writing contest for our members. This contest is open to any current Saskatchewan Writers’ Guild member who may be living in Saskatchewan or elsewhere. The Guild Prize is a biannual contest that runs in the Fall (flash fiction) and Spring (poetry) with a new theme for each round.
The Fall 2022 contest genre will be flash fiction, defined as fiction at or below 500 words. Submissions must be received on the theme of “ancestors.”
The stories we’re interested in for the inaugural Guild Prize reflect on the theme of “ancestors.” This might include reflections on who your ancestors are, inheritance, family histories, languages known or lost, stories passed down, teachings for the next generation, or places that hold memory for us. However you conceive of ancestry is welcome.
The winner of The Guild Prize will receive an award of $250 plus paid publication in the Fall 2022 issue of Freelance (released October 2022).
We are currently experiencing technical difficulties with the submissions portal. After paying for your entries, please email your submission documents to swgpr@skwriter.com.
