Tân'si Talk - “A Chemical Loneliness” My Journey so far…

 

The SWG is pleased to present Curtis Sanderson! Join Curtis and host, Julianna McLean as they converse about his forthcoming memoir about his life, family story and his sobriety journey! He will share some of his stories by reading a few excerpts from his work.

Presenter
 

Curt Sanderson is a father of two from the Mistawasis First Nation. When he’s not writing, he works at the Gordon Oakes Red Bear Student Centre, supporting Indigenous students. He enjoys photography, walking the different trails, going to the gym, and Elvis Presley. He is proud to be on his recovery journey. Curt has been clean and sober since September 28, 2020. Curt is writing a memoir about his life and his struggle with addiction. In 2024 he was selected for the SWG Indigenous Mentorship program to learn new skills that will help him complete his book.

 

 

 

Host
 

Julianna McLean is a nehiyaw Hungarian writer from James Smith Cree Nation. With the support of the Arts and Science Indigenous Masters Students Scholarship, Julianna obtained her MFA in Writing from the University of Saskatchewan; she also has a background in Indigenous Education and Kinesiology. Julianna's MFA thesis is a compilation of short stories and poetry that focus on her grandparents' and mother's residential/day school experiences, and Julianna's intergenerational survivor story. Julianna has poetry published in the anthology Where I'm From (2014). Julianna obtained her Indigenous yoga teacher certification through the Saskatchewan Indigenous Yoga Association she is also a Jingle Dress dancer.
