Workshop Description:

Writing for Young Readers: there's a lot of opportunity in the world of writing for children, but there are also some rules that are worth knowing (once you know these rules you can certainly break them!) Whether you've been writing for young readers for years, or you're just beginning, let's learn together what's possible. Exploring picture books and chapter books, along with some middle grade, we'll be discovering key elements of strong openings, characters and scenes to help your work connect with the hearts and minds of kids! Plan to be doing some writing, some thinking, and some focusing on you, your creativity, and your ideas!

Alice Kuipers is the award-winning, internationally bestselling author of ten books and the chapter book series Polly Diamond, a Junior Library Guild selected praised for “bring[ing] the magic of imagination to life”. Her work has been published in 36 countries.

On Ali’s Book Club on CTV Saskatoon, Alice regularly shares her favourite reads. A mother of four, she teaches writing to thousands of people, in-person and online. Find her here: www.alicekuipers.com
