Tracy Hamon

Tracy Hamon was born in Regina, SK and grew up traveling between Regina and her parents’ farm near Edenwold, Saskatchewan. She holds a BA Hon and a MA in English with a creative option from the University of Regina. She is currently the Executive Director for the Saskatchewan Writers’ Guild where she oversees an organization dedicated to providing programs for writers.

In 2008, she started a reading series in Regina called the Vertigo Reading Series a multi-genred series that offered a regular Regina venue to give authors with a space to read from their work—it continues to thrive today under new direction. She has taught introductory poetry classes at the University of Regina Extension and in her arts administration career, she began volunteering in 2004-2006 for the Saskatchewan Book Awards Regina Brunch Committee, chaired various writing groups, and has been on the board of both the Saskatchewan Writers’ Guild (2005-2007) and Sage Hill Writing Experience (2007-2013).

She is currently VP on the National Council of the League of Canadian Poets and Chair of the Writers' Trust Advisory Committee. Her first book of poetry This Is Not Eden was released in April 2005 and was a finalist for two Saskatchewan Book Awards. Portions of her latest collection Interruptions in Glass won the 2005 City of Regina Writing Award, and was also shortlisted for two Saskatchewan Book Awards in 2010. Her latest book of poetry Red Curls was published by Thistledown Press in the fall of 2014.
